Description
The Berkeley Police Department is looking for highly qualified, motivated people to join our ranks.
Berkeley Police Officers perform a wide variety of duties involving the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public. The department has 295 full time employees of which 182 are sworn police officers. The City has a population of approximately 102,000 residents and covers an area of approximately 13.1 square miles. The Berkeley Police Department will be holding the next test for entry level, lateral and reserve candidates on 7/31/10. You can apply online through the City of Berkeley HR Department at http://agency.governmentjobs.com/berkeley/default.cfm to take the test.
We are accepting applications from 5/18/10 until 6/28/10. The salary is $7436-9254 monthly and includes a generous benefit package.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 21 years old and Equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of 60 college semester hours in police science, public administration, psychology or a related field. Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess satisfactory hearing capabilities and visual acuity of at least 20/100 correctable to at least 20/30 in each eye, and be able to meet physical, psychological and background standards. Must be willing to work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Must be able to obtain required P.O.S.T. certification and maintain firearms qualification.
