Apex Systems, the Nation’s 2nd largest Technical Staffing and Services Firm, has an opening for a Network Security Engineer with the fifth-largest wireless telecommunications network company location in Chicago (Rosemont), IL

The security consultant would come from the security design from companies like Nokia/Ericsson/Cisco and be initially responsible for the following:

1. Work with member of team to create a 5G end-to-end security architecture to support the new 5G SA Core with e2e network slices and MEC

2. Work with member of team to develop an 4G/5G IoT Security Architecture

3. Develop a consistent 5G/4G network perimeter and DMZ architecture

4. Develop HLDs for all of the above architect

Responsible for designing secure computer network architectures for 4G and 5G networks, including secure local area networks (LANs), secure wide area networks (WANs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), secure backhaul/midhaul/fronthaul, secure DNS, secure access from the Internet, within intranets, and other data communications systems. Creates, tests, and evaluates secure network architectures.

Specific Skills (working knowledge of):

Authentication/authorization techniques, secure hash functions (e.g. SHA-1), Encryption techniques (symmetric and asymmetric), Key distribution techniques/Public Key Certificates (X.509), IPSEC, SSL, TLS, HTTPS, SSH, Intrusion Detection techniques, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention systems, DMZs, DOS/DDOS attacks and their mitigations, Passive and Active type attacks, 3GPP LTE security (TS 33.220, 33.401. 33.402, 33.310), 3GPP 5G (TS 33.501)

Primary responsibilities

• Write functional requirements/specifications documents.

• Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework.

• Design, test, and inspect data communications systems.

• Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning.

• Develop technology roadmaps.

• Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects.

• Manage technology vendors.

• Stay abreast of how technology infrastructures are currently impacting and driving competitors.

• Assess vendor development/test strategies.

• Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.

• Solve complex problems with many variables.
